Community Conversations are the path to forging powerful community partnerships. Use this guide to better understand your community, help your community grasp the key factors impacting your schools, and, most importantly, to craft your district’s or school’s unique story — the critical path to transforming education on your local level. Community Conversations: Your Voice – Your Guide is divided into three sections:
- How to present in your conversations
- Issues that impact education
- Stories that support the work of schools
This guide includes scores of resources to help your team develop powerful messages to share about local schools and communities. At your fingertips is everything from county-by-county graduation rates and trends, achievement data and powerful reports on the loss of funding per school district, per class and per pupil. This guide also serves as your personal interactive workbook. Your answers to questions throughout the guide will help you clearly identify your district’s values, challenges and goals. The questions also serve as prompts for productive discussions about education within your community. Once you log into this site, you can return to your personalized, private notes or edit or share them if you choose.
Designing community conversations involves two tracks:
Here’s where you plan and design your messaging. Your first step it to communicate to fellow educators about the urgent need for conversations and about the critical role they play in the process. Your team will then synchronize the values of your community and your district, map your target audiences and craft and begin presenting your conversations with your community.
The informal track is about the power of positive thinking and how to make your messaging infectious and joyful.
